Congratulations to four Oregon Cheese Guild members on wins at the 2011 US Championship Cheese Contest, a bi-annual event.  This year 1602 entries from 30 states competed in the competition held March 8 – 10 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Tillamook‘s Boardman plant was awarded Best of Class and a 2nd Place finish in both Monterey Jack and Marbled Curd classes and received a 3rd for their Pepper Cheddar.   Rogue Creamery took 2nd in the Blue Veined/Exterior Molding class for their newest blue cheese, Flora Nelle and 2nd for Echo Mountain Blue in the Soft & Semi Soft Mixed Milk class.  Astrea from Rivers Edge Chévre was awarded a 3rd  in the Hard Goat’s Milk Cheese class.

LaClare Farms, a farmstead producer from Chilton, Wis., took Best of Show with Evalon, a hard goat’s milk cheese.
